Make sure your local school is taking part. Walk to School week, running this year from 19-23 May. Last year, around two million pupils got their families to leave the car keys behind and walk to school, finding out about the great benefits to their health and local pollution levels (not to mention their social lives!).

This year, Walk to School week is linking in with Noise Action week, and they are asking children to become ‘sound detectives’ on their way to school. They will also be highlighting the detrimental effect that traffic noise can have on pupils sleep and learning patterns.

They want as many schools as possible to take part in a week of activities, to make it the biggest one yet. If you’re a parent, grandparent, sibling or family friend, why not check if your local school is taking part? They can order the Walk to School week packs now, by going to the Walk to School website.
